University of Mississippi Medical Center was hit by ransomware discovered Feb 19, 2026. UMMC shut down all 35 statewide clinics effective Feb 20, cancelling appointments and elective procedures. Epic EHR systems taken offline; staff reverted to pen-and-paper. Seven hospitals and emergency departments remained open. FBI and HHS mobilized. Investigation ongoing to determine if patient data was accessed.
