Technical writeup
Unverified ransomware/extortion leak-site claim — August 21, 2026 (DataBreaches.net). Silent Ransom Group told DataBreaches it remotely attacked Troutman Pepper Locke on August 7, 2026, that the firm refused to negotiate/pay, and that SRG then published a leak tranche including privileged matter files and class-member spreadsheets. DataBreaches’ preliminary inspection found names, postal addresses, and full SSNs in more than 64,000 records (some may be duplicates). Troutman Pepper Locke did not respond to DataBreaches and had not issued a public confirmation or denial at indexing. Distinct from TPL’s July 2025 NH AG notice describing an April 2025 single-laptop physical intrusion (SRG also claims that earlier event). recordsAffected 64000 = DataBreaches’ SSN-record floor from the 2026 leak inspection (unverified).
Root cause
Unverified Silent Ransom Group (SRG) claim of remote intrusion Aug 7, 2026 and subsequent leak-site publication after firm allegedly refused to pay; firm had not publicly confirmed at indexing
