Technical writeup

Strategic Education Inc., parent of Strayer University and Capella University, disclosed that an unauthorized actor accessed its servers February 23–25, 2026, copying files containing personal information. Multi-state regulator filings in early June 2026 cited at least 176,043 affected individuals—including 100,845 Texas, 63,272 South Carolina, and 2,673 Maine residents—with names, SSNs, driver’s licenses, and passport numbers. Discovery occurred May 21, 2026; consumer notifications began May 29 with Kroll identity monitoring.
