Technical writeup

Netmarble confirmed on 27 November 2025 that a 22 November intrusion into PC game portal systems exposed personal data for 6,110,000 members (including dormant accounts): names, birthdates, and encrypted passwords. The company said resident registration numbers and other unique identifiers were not compromised. Separately, it reported leakage of over 31 million IDs with encrypted passwords where names/DOBs had already been deleted (not independently identifiable), plus ~66,000 pre-2015 PC-cafe franchisee records and ~17,000 current/former employee name/DOB/email records. Chosun Ilbo reported Netmarble took nearly 72 hours to report the personal-data leak to authorities after detection, drawing political criticism.
