Verified edtech breach — June–July 2026. Houston City College (Texas community college system, hccs.edu) was named in a ShinyHunters pay-or-leak extortion campaign dated around June 16, 2026. Stolen data was later published publicly. Have I Been Pwned loaded the corpus on July 28, 2026 with 831,642 unique email addresses and associated personal/academic fields covering current students and alumni: names, addresses, phones, dates of birth, genders, citizenship statuses, and academic records. BreachHistory indexes the HIBP-attested count as the verified denominator; a separate ~69k student class-action figure reported in some coverage is a narrower plaintiff pool, not the full dump size.
