Chekin / Gastrodat appeared in an April 2026 Cybernews investigation after researchers found an exposed server used to harvest booking data from Spanish and Austrian hospitality platforms. The server held scripts, extraction logs, structured dumps, and credentials tied to compromised hotel and host accounts.
Cybernews reported roughly 6.5 GB of files, data from more than 170 facilities, about 400,000 booking records, and personally identifiable information for nearly 5 million people. The exposed data included guest names, phone numbers, email addresses, dates and places of birth, stay dates, reservation IDs, property addresses, internal safety flags, and in some cases ID document details.
