July 16–17, 2026: Abbott Laboratories confirmed it is investigating unauthorized access to a limited set of internal systems in its Cancer Diagnostics business—legacy Exact Sciences environments—after ShinyHunters listed the unit for extortion.
That upgrades an earlier unverified leak-site claim into a company-attested incident. Abbott still has not published a patient headcount.
What Abbott said
In its corporate statement, Abbott said the intrusion does not impact business operations, product availability, manufacturing or lab operations, or its ability to serve patients; other Abbott businesses are unaffected; legacy Exact Sciences systems are separate; third-party experts and law enforcement are engaged; and no material financial impact is expected based on current knowledge.
BleepingComputer reported ShinyHunters claimed mid-June vishing and large clinical-data theft—those volumes remain unverified.
The second track: LabCentral
Separately, ShadowByt3$ claimed a LabCentral portal theft. Abbott told BC it is aware of a "potential" incident but says LabCentral holds publicly available technical reference documents, not sensitive customer/business IP. See Abbott LabCentral claim.
